AuctionTricks 224 **JEWEL:** One of our finest and most popular mental effects has been completely updated. It has been nearly five years since we last produced Jewel, and our new version has undergone a full redesign. This is just one of many original CW items being revived.
**SUGGESTED STAGING:** The performer invites a group of five volunteers to each select a jewelry pouch at random from a jewelry box filled with various trinkets. No one knows what is inside each pouch except for the performer, and even that knowledge won’t be helpful as the performer will have his back turned during the selection process.
Each volunteer is asked to open their pouch and concentrate on its contents without revealing anything to anyone. After focusing, they are instructed to hold the pouches behind their backs. The performer then asks one of the volunteers to step forward. After a moment of concentration, the performer instructs the volunteer to step back. This process is repeated with each of the remaining four volunteers.
The performer then turns around and points to one of the volunteers, naming the object inside that person's pouch. He provides a brief interpretation based on the hidden object and its potential connection to the spectator’s unconscious choice. This process is repeated for the other four volunteers, and his divination proves to be completely accurate in each instance.
No questions are asked, and the pouches are not marked or gimmicked in any way. Any object may be placed within the pouches since they are also not gimmicked. The performer has his back to the volunteers the entire time, yet he is able to determine who has which object without any clues as to the method.
This effect can also be used to find one black ball among five white balls, or with chess pieces, coins, cards, and much more. This single prop can open up a world of unique mental mysteries for you and your audience.
