The effect is simple and astounding! A rope is inserted through a hole in a solid block of wood. One end is wrapped around the block and passed through the hole again, making a loop around the block and holding it securely. Even with spectators holding both ends of the rope, the performer is able grab the block of wood and visually pull it free from the rope! This can also be performed by the performer alone - by standing on one end of the rope - if spectators are not used.

This beautiful piece comes from Woodmagic and HOWARD HALE. Something nearly impossible to find these days. I have owned it for many decades and love it! The wood block, about 3" cube, is handsome and it comes with a red rope that has brass-fitted ends for easy insertion through the block, a red velvet tie carry bag, and the original instructions. It is very suitable for living room, parlor, and stage.
